In my essay “Genetic Modification and Sustaining Life” I began my research completely against the idea of altering the natural state of plants, animals and especially not humans. With comprehensive research, I did find some aspects of this science not to my liking, but I found that with the right ethical application and unbiased oversight of its use it can actually be a boon to life on earth.
Here is a reflection from that essay that illustrates my change in stance:
“My initial stance was that I was against having anyone change the nature of my food. I was surprised how much that stance has changed. In the end, I see genetic engineering as a possible way to fix so many things. I saw it as a negative thing, but now I see that there are possibilities for mankind I was never aware of.“
